What Scientists Now Understand About The Effect Of Human Pheromones

pheromonesYou may have heard of the metaphorical sexual chemistry during daily conversation. The effect of the human pheromone is truly sexual chemistry. For years scientists have done numerous studies that have proven the existence and the astonishing effect of the human pheromone. Pheromones are the chemicals a person releases unknowingly that sexually attract the opposite sex. The opposite sex receives this chemical signal through their pheromone receptor, which triggers the emotion of sexual attraction in their brain. Scientists now know that pheromones are what truly sexually attract people to each other.

Scientists have discovered that the human pheromone is produced in the apocrine glands, which are located in the areas of the body such as the chest, belly, armpits, and groin. It is then released into the sweat and eventually becomes airborne. The opposite sex in the vicinity receives the pheromone with part of the olfactory system called the vomeronasal organ. This organ is located in the nose. When the vomeronasal organ detects the pheromone it sends a signal to the area of the brain that connects with the endocrine system. The endocrine system is the part of the human body that produces hormones. The pheromone is not perceived by a person’s sense of smell even though it is detected by an organ inside of the nose.

Many scientific studies have shown that these tiny molecules have the power to change the sexual behavior of the opposite sex when they are in their environment and therefore received by the person’s vomeronasal organ. The man or woman’s brain that receives these pheromone signals has an unintentional, emotional reaction of sexual attraction to the chemical message. Only a small amount of human pheromone is needed to produce this effect on a human being’s brain. During scientific studies men rated women more sexually attractive in the presence of the women’s pheromones than when they were not in the presence of the women’s pheromones. Women also rated men more sexually attractive in the presence of the men's pheromones than when they were not in the presence of the men’s pheromones. This scientific study proves beyond a doubt that the effect of human pheromones really does matter when it comes to the sexual attraction between men and women. Human pheromones have certainly taken the mystery out of why certain people are together and why others are not.
