First dates are often both exciting and a little bit nerve-racking. To help ease those first date jitters, consider the following first date dos and don'ts:
Do: Be mindful of your hygiene. While it's probably not necessary to wear a three-piece suit on a first date, it is important to look-- and smell!-- nice. Be sure to shower before your date and pick out a freshly laundered outfit to wear.
Don't: Be late. Don't start off your date with a major strike against you by showing up late! Plan ahead so that you have plenty of time to get there, taking into consideration factors like traffic. A good rule of thumb is to plan to arrive 10 minutes early so that you can greet your date when she arrives.
Do: Be a gentleman. Don't believe the hype: chivalry is not dead! Women still appreciate a man who opens doors for her, pulls out her chair, and offers to pick up the tab at the end of the night.
Don't: Talk about yourself all night. If you want to know the quickest way to ruin a first date, simply spend the entire evening boasting about yourself and your many accomplishments. While it's understandable to want to impress your date, incessant bragging will typically have the opposite effect. Instead, spend time getting to know her. Ask thoughtful questions and be an active listener.
Do: Offer sincere compliments. Everyone appreciates a nice compliment-- as long as it's sincere. Don't just shower her with cliché one-liners; offer up sincere, thoughtful compliments.
Don't: Forget your pheromone cologne. Give yourself an extra edge on your date by using pheromone cologne. Pheromones-- also known as nature's aphrodisiac-- are responsible for sexual attraction. Pheromone cologne boosts your body's own pheromone production so that your date feels subconsciously attracted to you.
